- Coba Ruins
- About 40 minutes inland from the house. Grab a guide for about $30. Definitely splurge on the “Mayan taxi” for $5 or $10, and you can whiz through the ancient trails with your guide.

- Chichen Itza Ruins
- About 2 hours away from the house, into the Northern Maya Lowlands. The largest of all the ruins in the Riviera Maya, the drive there is picturesque with many shops to browse along the way.

Sian Ka´an Jungle Trip: They offer a guided tour through the jungle with explanations of wildlife, trees, and medicinal plants. The hike takes you through Mayan ruins and wetlands where you end up by a lagoon. There is a short boat tour through the Mayan canals and then you get to cool off by wearing life jackets and literally floating downstream through one of the canals. There are gorgeous orchids and mangroves.
Day Trip to Cozumel: A day trip to Cozumel is lovely. The SCUBA diving there is great. The restaurants are great. Rent a convertible, if possible, and circle the island, stopping at different remote beaches along the way. It is a wonderful day plan. For organized tour options, click here.
Running: If you’re a runner, be sure to get up early so you can run before the sun is strong, or wait until the evening, about an hour before sunset. The sun is very hot during the day, and since you´ll probably be sweating a lot more than you do at home (both while running and not), be sure to drink a lot of extra fluids.
Massage/Spa: Tulum is one of the most relaxing places in the world. Choose from one of the many spas and massage locations.
