Tulum Town (Pueblo)

  • Antojitos La Chiapaneca – Authentic Mexican Tacos, $
    • A local and famous favorite! The menu has a 3 taco plate with your option of store bought tortilla or for 10 pesos more you can get a house made tortilla. SPLURGE on the house made tortillas!
  • Don Cafeto – Yucatan, $$
    • A place for a great meal and margarita! Drinks are strong, cheap and good flavored. Food portions are generous and tasty! Their free starter of pickled vegetables is out of this world.
  • El Asadero – Steakhouse $
    • Fantastic food and vibe. Great value. Try the steak specials and the taco combo (mixed chorizo, chicken, beef). Excellent! The four (free) salsas are delicious. We suggest getting the Arrechera combo for $13.
  • El Camello, Jr. – Seafood, $
    • Fresh fish is the order of the day. Say “pescado al mojo” or “pescado con ajo”.
  • El Gourmet – Spanish/Italian Delicatessen, $
    • A wonderful spot for a quick bite to eat before heading out on your daily adventures. Order one of their many “Aguas Frescas”, or fruity cold drinks (bebidos).They also have lovely edible souvenirs, perfect for the foodie in your life.
  • Los Aguachiles – Mexican, $$
    • Our local neighborhood favorite, located right on the corner of Palenque Street and Highway 307. Our recommendation: tuna sashimi lettuce wraps, tostadas and the octopus. Every Tulum taxi driver knows this restaurant so you’ll never have an issue getting home.
  • Panna e Cioccolato Ice Cream, $
    • There are two of these yummy Gelato Ice Cream Spots in Tulum.  Not to be missed.  

Tulum Beach (La Playa)

  • El Pez – Mexican, International, $$
    • Open-air restaurant right on the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy a delicious breakfast while watching the pelicans feed and waves crash along the lovely beach.
  • Tita Tulum – International & Mexican, Seafood, $
    • Open-air restaurant with a lovely view of the Caribbean Sea. Try Tita’s house specials such as shrimp in coconut sauce or fish fillet ‘Olmeca’ in a savory sauce. They are known for having the best ceviche on the beach.
  • Sandbar Smokehouse, $
    • The place is gorgeously decorated with tropical rustic furniture painted in vibrant pastels, local hardwood, ample windows and sand floor, beachfront seating, grilled specialties and tropical dream cocktails. The view from here, day or night, is just breathtaking! Sandbar Smokehouse is open to the public for dinner from 5:00 pm to 12:00 am and till 3:00 am on Friday parties.
  • Zamas – Mexican, Mayan, Seafood, $$
    • Listening to the live music in the front of the restaurant or the ocean waves in the back make this our favorite spot for dinner.  The back seating area by the beach and the rocks is magical.
  • Ziggy’s Beach Bar – Mexican, Seafood, $$$
    • Make it a romantic night or a night on the town with friends, at this popular establishment.  

Tulum Beach Jungle (Jardin) Side

  • El Tabano – Traditional Mexican, International $$
    • Immersed in a luscious garden in the jungle side, serving homemade flavor infused with regional character, and a touch of the chef’s personality into each dish.
  • Gitano – Mexican, International $$
    • Brand New Mezcal and Tapas Bar in Tulum! Nice and Trendy! The sparkling, ethereal setting makes it a perfect spot for a glass of wine with your friends.
  • Hartwood – Mexican & Seafood, $$$$
    • This is the #1 rated restaurant in Tulum by the New York Times.  You must make a reservation in the afternoon to eat here in the evening. Find out the time and be prepared to get in line early.
  • Taqueria La Euphemia – Taco Joint, $
    • This is a fun laid back spot on the beach to grab a good taco, a beer and meet some friendly folks. This place caters to an adult crowd and is a party atmosphere.
  • Posada Margherita – Italian, $$$
    • They have a small menu consisting of dishes of pasta/fish/shrimp. Everything is fresh and delicious. They make a great pomodoro. The restaurant is nicely decorated and you have a great view of the beach. Cash only.
  • Restaurare – Vegan, Asian Fusion, Mexican, $$
    • Vegan cuisine, supporting local products and farmers, inspired in permaculture and pursuing sustainable development all served with love in tulum’s jungle, few steps from the beach.
  • The Real Coconut – Healthy, Gluten-Free, Mostly Vegan, $$
    • This is a cozy spot on the beach that serves mostly vegetarian food.  They have lovely areas to sit and relax o0n the beach.  Try the amazing fruit shakes and the avocado toast.
